Terms
Last updated 3 November 2026.
These terms cover the Magnificent BarStars game at playbarstars.com and this website, magnificentbarstars.com. Please read them before you buy. They don't affect your legal rights as a consumer.
Who we are
Magnificent BarStars is run by D Harries Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12135456), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. "We" and "us" in these terms means D Harries Ltd. You can reach us at hello@magnificentbarstars.com.
Buying the game
- Our order process is run by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service enquiries and handles returns.
- When you buy, you also agree to Paddle's buyer terms. Paddle takes the payment, charges any tax due where you live and sends your receipt.
- Prices are shown at checkout and include tax where applicable. If a price changes, it doesn't change for anyone who has already bought.
- After you pay, you get an unlock code by email. It unlocks hosting the full game.
Your unlock code
- One code unlocks hosting for one table at a time. Your friends join on their own phones and never need to buy.
- You can use your code on any device: your own laptop, a friend's TV, anywhere. Starting a new game with it closes the last game it was running, so it never locks you out.
- Keep your code to yourself. If a code is posted publicly or sold on, we may switch it off and send the buyer a new one.
- Lost your code? Email us from the address you bought with and we'll send it again.
What you may do with the game
- Play it with friends, family, at parties and in the pub. That's what it's for.
- Stream it and make videos of it, including ones that earn you money. We'd love to see them.
- Please don't copy, resell or rent out the game, its cards or its art, or try to get round the unlock code. The game, cards, art and name belong to the BarStars creators.
- Running paid public events with it (ticketed nights, venues) needs our OK first. Just email us.
Your right to cancel
The game is digital content you can use straight away. At checkout you're asked to agree that the game is supplied immediately and that you then lose the 14-day right to cancel that UK and EU law usually gives. Our refund policy still gives you 14 days to ask for a refund anyway.
What players type
Some cards ask players to type a word or a short answer, which shows on the shared screen. Players are responsible for what they type, and the host can switch on "hide text" in the lobby. We don't read or keep it: a game's names and answers are deleted 12 hours after the last move. Please don't type anything abusive, hateful or illegal.
Age and content
The game contains references to alcohol, innuendo and crude humour, and players type their own answers. We recommend it for ages 13 and up. The host decides who plays. Buying the game needs someone old enough to pay with their own card or with permission.
Keeping it running
The game runs in a web browser and needs an internet connection. We work hard to keep it running, but we can't promise it will never be down or work on every device. If something is broken for you, tell us and we'll try to fix it or refund you. We may update the game to fix problems or add things, but we won't take away the core game you paid for while it's running.
If the game ever closes
Magnificent BarStars is an online service: it only works while our servers run it. We plan to keep it going for a long time, but we can't promise forever. If we ever decide to close it, we'll give at least 90 days' notice on this website and by email to everyone who bought it. Until the closing date the game keeps working as normal. Refunds follow our refund policy: within 14 days of buying you can always have your money back, but after that no refund is owed because the game closes, unless the law says otherwise.
If something goes wrong
If the game is faulty you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and nothing in these terms takes them away. Beyond that, we're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses. Our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid for the game. We don't limit our responsibility where the law doesn't let us, for example for death or injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes don't affect a purchase you've already made.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you live in the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer laws.
